What's new

v11.8 [Nov 11, 2021]
- Added support of high capacity blu-ray discs : BD-R DL and BD-RE DL (Dual Layer, 50 GB), BD-R TL and BD-RE TL (Triple Layer, 100 GB), BD-R QL and BD-RE QL (Quadruple Layer, 128 GB), Ultra HD Blu-ray (UHD) discs as well.
- The following list of features upgraded to accomodate to the new high capacity optical discs (mentioned above): Recover All / Recover Selected, Drag-and-Drop and File Execution, Save / Resume Recovery, Scan UDF Disc, Examine Sectors / Examine File, Search of disc content, Extract To ISO Image File, View Image, File Properties.
- UDF forced scan updated. Added support of discs created by Windows 10 internal burner. Advanced users and data recovery experts can find useful an opportunity to change (simulate) UDF partition parameters after Unknown CD option has been selected in the forced scan list. For example, if you do not know an exact name of CD/DVD mastering program that created your bad disc, but you have the good one created by the same software, you can apply Test Disc option to the good disc and get the partition parameters first. Then, you run the forced scan on the bad disc (with the Unknown CD option), type the values under UDF Scan parameters dialog and find the lost files, simulating the good disc partition.
- Added ZIP viewer. You can now look into the table of contents of ZIP archive on CD without copying a large ZIP file to your computer. ZIP64 format extensions are also supported. Just select ZIP file in the program window, click the Properties option and look at the ZIP archive tab under the file properties dialog. This option can be applied to another files, created in the ZIP format, such as .ZIPX, .DOCX, .XLXS, .PPTX, .ODT, .ODS, .ODP, .JAR and .WAR files.
- Main program window with empty CD/DVD drives now appears before analysis of inserted disc, with further messages in the status bar. This looks like a proof of normal work of the program if you've inserted a disc before CDRoller and analysis of bad disc requires an additional time.
- Extended Data Recovery updated. Examine Sectors option is now available in the pop-up (context menu) under the Start Window, for the entire disk, logical drive, or selected partition. This allows to search for particular data (content) immediately, without analysis of file system.
- Added support of Flip Video Pocket Cameras with internal flash memories.
- Added Create spare files and Repair file options into the File menu of program window. Spare files contain error-correction data based on Reed-Solomon algorithm that can be used to verify your valuable files have not been damaged and fix them if necessary.
- Installation procedure slightly changed. After installation, the version number will not be displayed in the Start Menu folder name. For example, you will see a simple CDRoller name instead of CDRoller 11.0. This looks like an useful for future upgrades. Also, the setup program now allows to change CDRoller's location if it's required for saving the older version.
- Added Check Update into the Help menu. Using this option, you can check if your current version of CDRoller is up-to-date or a recent update is now available.
- Added an ability to lock CD/DVD drive when analysing the damaged disc. A new check box with the same name is placed onto CDRoller - Start Window. This can be useful when the Windows ejects a disc, interrupting a work of CDRoller.
- Numerous improvements, bugfixes and workarounds added.

v11.6 [Feb 5, 2020]
- Added an ability to lock CD/DVD drive after CDRoller begins to analyse the inserted disc. A new check box with the same name is placed onto CDRoller - Start Window. This looks like an useful option when Windows 10 just ejects the damaged disc, interrupting a work of CDRoller. Usually, the Windows Explorer window opens to the CD/DVD drive, the disc is ejected and Windows dialog that says 'Insert disc' appears as well.
- Numerous improvements, bugfixes and workarounds added.

v11.5 [Nov 27, 2019]
- That is an important version for everyone who uses CDRoller for data recovery from the video cameras with internal flash memories.
- Extended Data Recovery updated. Added support of Flip Video Pocket Cameras with internal flash memories.
- Fixed a bug when searching for the lost video files on the flash cards with FAT file system.
- Added Check Update into the Help menu. Using this option, you can check if your current version of CDRoller is up-to-date or a recent update is now available.
- Numerous improvements, bugfixes and workarounds added.

v11.4 [Jan 10, 2019]
- This version introduces the new free options of CDRoller: Create spare files and Repair file. These options are now located in the File menu of program window. Spare files contain error-correction data based on Reed-Solomon algorithm that can be used to verify your valuable files have not been damaged and fix them if necessary. For example, if you have a valuable file on the expensive high-capacity Blu-ray disc (BD-R Quadruple Layer or Ultra HD Blu-ray), even a small damaged area can make a large backup file non-functional. A possible solution is to create spare files while your backup is still readable, keep them in the safe place or write onto new CD or DVD using Burn option of CDRoller. Further, you can recover files with the help of Recover... and Repair file options, using spare files created before.
- Numerous improvements, bugfixes and workarounds added.

v11.2 [Jun 27, 2018]
- Released CD/DVD/Blu-ray bitmap for Recover All and Recover Selected options. It allows to skip files already processed on the inserted disc.
- Added an ability to display the digital numbers of the Retries and Force as hints under the data recovery window.
- In addition to HTML report, the recovery results can be now saved into the text file as well.
- Numerous improvements, bugfixes and workarounds added.

v10.61 [Nov 13, 2017]
Released direct access to raw disk data using a special (kernel-mode) driver. This enables you to bypass the restrictions, imposed by Windows 7, 8, 8.1, 10 and Vista operating systems under standard user account. Unlike some data recovery programs, CDRoller 10 does not request administrator privileges for work with Windows drives (hard disks, flash and floppy drives, etc.) under restricted (non-administrative) account. That means you never get User Account Control (UAC) popup when you start CDRoller after installation.
View Image significantly updated for all data recovery options. It now supports all major graphic formats (BMP, JPEG, JPEG 2000, GIF, PNG, PCX, PSD, EPS, TIFF, WMF, ICO, TGA), DICOM files for medical imaging (*.dcm, *.dic, *.dicom, *.v2), popular digital camera raw formats such as: Canon (*.cr2, *.crw), Kodak (*.dcr), Minolta (*.mrw), Nikon (*.nef), Olympus (*.orf), Pentax (*.pef), Fuji (*.raf), Leica (*.raw), Sony (*.srf) and Sigma (*.x3f).
Added support of disk image files: files recorded in Expert Witness Compression Format (*.E01, *.L01, *.S01), Linux / Unix "Disk Dump" (*.dd) files, ISO image files (*.iso) and Microsoft Virtual Disk Images in VHD and VHDX formats (*.vhd, *.vhdx files).
Included files scanning for particular data (content), regardless of the file names and/or extensions. With support of Perl-like regular expressions facility (PCRE library) for creating match patterns.
Added an ability to create disk image files for entire drive, logical disk or selected partition. Image file is a byte-to-byte copy (clone) of entire disk or selected partition and can be used by data recovery specialists for many purposes.
UDF data recovery updated. Added the ability to separately recover each fragment (extent) of UDF file, displayed under UDF Records tab in the file Properties dialog. This can be useful, for instance, if a large UDF video file is fragmented and some damaged extents slow the recovery process.
Examine Sectors significantly updated. Added an opportunity to examine the sectors data on hard disks, flash drives and other types of Windows disks/drives, selected for Extended Data Recovery.
Recover All / Recover Selected updated. Now, data recovery report lists all bad (unreadable) sectors detected for each file.
Extract To ISO Image File significantly updated. You can now create ISO image (*.iso) file not only from the entire disc (session, drive, partition) but also from the separate (selected) files and folders. As always, this option is available for optical discs (CD, DVD, Blu-ray) and another types of Windows drives (flash drives, Hard Disk Drives, etc.).
Extended Data Recovery improved:
Released support of popular Linux Ext2 and Ext3 file systems.
Added support of disks (drives) with GPT partitions.
Added an opportunity to access to the list of physical drives and their partitions. This may be useful if Windows does not display a drive as a logical one (volume) with a separate letter,
ExFAT reader significantly updated. In addition to the recovery of files data, CDRoller now restores the lost (deleted or quick re-formatted) sub-folders on the disks (drives) with exFAT file system.
Added expected support of UDF file system. Now, you can recover UDF files not only from optical discs (CD, DVD, Blu-ray) but also from another Windows drives, formatted with UDF file system.
NTFS reader updated. Added an opportunity to recover the compressed NTFS files. Released a deep scan of unused clusters. That can help to locate the files based only on file signatures, ignoring NTFS records.
Scan FAT Data updated. Added a new option to recognize MP3 files. This can be useful if you're looking for the lost audio files in the data storage, built in your voice recorder.
Program Preferences updated. Added a new FAT / NTFS / Ext tab with optional settings for Extended Data Recovery.
Removed the 24-bit limit of cluster address.
Numerous improvements, bugfixes and workarounds added.

v10.40 [Jun 20, 2016]
This version of CDRoller introduces new features to all users who examine disk data at low level. For example, forensic investigators can find useful:
- Support of disk image files: files recorded in Expert Witness Compression Format (*.E01, *.L01, *.S01), Linux / Unix "Disk Dump" (*.dd) files and ISO image files (*.iso) as well.
- Displaying Evidence Item Information in the Properties dialog for EWF image file.
- Files scanning for particular data (content), regardless of the file names and/or extensions. With support of Perl-like regular expressions facility (PCRE library) for creating match patterns.
- Updated Examine Sectors option with a new Copy Sectors capability.

May include unspecified updates, enhancements, or bug fixes.

v10.0 [May 15, 2014]
Released a direct access to raw disk data using a special (kernel-mode) driver. This enables you to bypass the restrictions, imposed by Windows 7, 8 and Vista operating systems under standard user account. Unlike some data recovery programs, CDRoller 10 does not request administrator privileges for work with Windows drives (hard disks, flash and floppy drives, etc.) under restricted (non-administrative) account. That means you never get User Account Control (UAC) popup when you start CDRoller after installation.
UDF data recovery updated. Added the ability to separately recover each fragment (extent) of UDF file, displayed under UDF Records tab in the file Properties dialog. This can be useful, for instance, if a large UDF video file is fragmented and some damaged extents slow the recovery process.
